BESIDE’s Second Steering Committee Meeting took place on 7
March, at DAO, bringing together for the first time the Coordinator Ana
Lillebo, the ERA Chair Helena Vieira, the full team of researchers and PhD
students funded by the project and the five members of our External Expert
Advisory Board, who attended in person this meeting allowing more personal
exchanges.
The morning meeting started with a presentation by all the researchers, with a biographical introduction and their main achievements since joining BESIDE. This was followed by an overview and update on project status, such as funding applications and approved projects, published papers, events, collaboration opportunities and PhD student recruitment.
The Advisory Board shared their thoughts and made suggestions for the team to achieve its goals, pointing out opportunities and possible synergies. Training activities, papers and collaborations with industry and other stakeholders were also discussed.
The afternoon was dedicated to the objectives for the next year, including internationalisation strategies for researchers and PhD students, mobility between industry and the BESIDE team, capacity building plans in environmental economics and natural resources, and mentoring within BESIDE/CESAM.
The meeting ended with a presentation and discussion on the current institutional framework for BESIDE and next steps.
