The 2nd General Assembly of RESTORE4Cs was held in Klaipėda, Lithuania, on 4-6 July 2023 and hosted by Klaipėda University – Marine Research Institute, Lithuania.
During the 3-day meeting, representatives of 15 partners from 9 European countries have reunited, in person and online, to discuss the different Work Packages progress, exchange ideas, and consider future project activities.
All the WPs were coupled and divided into breakout groups to further brainstorm and advance on their interactions on issues such as linking policy goals to upscaling, modelling and field data, tool box concept and training. Case studies, the planning of the field campaigns, restoration potential and co-benefits as well as focus on technical and practical aspects of upscaling actions are the pivotal topics that were at the heart of this project meeting, paving the road for a sound coordinated advancement of RESTORE4Cs’ activities.
During this 2nd General Assembly, the project consortium had also the chance to welcome the first member of its External Advisory Board, Lammert Hilarides, Senior Technical Officer Information Management at Wetlands International, GEOWetlands, who connected remotely to discuss with participants the potential contributions and expectations towards RESTORE4Cs.
The end of the meeting was marked by the visit to the local Case pilot site of RESTORE4Cs, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site: the Curonian Lagoon and Spit.
